    Posted June 6, 2008

More than 100 Buckley Middle School students in the MS Band, Choir and Orchestra performed in May’s Music in the Parks festival in Anaheim. With thousands of students competing from across the Western United States, Buckley’s Band and Orchestra were awarded ratings of "Good" and the Choir earned an "Excellent" score and the highest point total of any 1-A Division choir at the event. In addition, eighth grader Jono Friedman was honored as the best "Overall Vocalist" among all the Junior High/Middle School choirs in the 1-A and AA categories (these are size categories and AA schools can be quite large) in competition at the festival. “I was so pleased with how the Choir, and all of our students, performed,” said Choir Teacher John Hendricks. “And I’m so excited for Jono that he was honored this way.”

After the morning competition, students spent the afternoon at Disneyland before an evening awards ceremony.
