Student Government

The Middle and Upper School Student Councils include four representatives from each of the grade levels. Requirements for involvement in student council include good academic standing, a good citizenship record, completion of service requirements, and one semester of attendance at Buckley. The entire student body elects the student body president, vice-president, and historian. The historian may be a member of any Upper School class, but the president and vice-president must be seniors with previous student council experience.

If a student is suspended during the academic year, he or she may not run in the next school election.

In Middle School, the seeds of leadership are planted as students begin to take responsibility for events such as Middle School Skate Night, dances and fundraisers. The focus is on leadership training and use of a leadership curriculum with a heavy emphasis on problem solving.
