Admission to Buckley

Buckley is made up of three divisions – Lower, Middle and Upper Schools – yet we are one community. We enroll 750 students in kindergarten through grade 12 and find that this size creates a strong sense of community at Buckley. The faculty truly know each and every student they teach, and younger and older students benefit from seeing, or being, role models on campus.
Buckley’s educational philosophy encompasses four principles: academic training, creative self-expression through the arts, physical development, and moral education. Dr. Buckley’s approach addresses the development of the whole student, enabling them to become well-rounded, knowledgeable, and independent.
At Buckley, we look for students who are well suited to our philosophy. We select students for the Middle and Upper School whose applications, recommendations, and testing indicate that they can succeed here, not only academically but also in becoming a contributing member of our community. For us, success means feeling safe to take a risk, ask a question, try out for a play or run for office. It means students who take the opportunity to learn and grow in all areas of school life, inside and outside of the classroom.
For you, the difficulty will be finding the right match for your student and family. At Buckley, a strong emphasis is placed on working in close relationship with the families of students. It is important to define what you want from a school community. Do your homework and research schools, ask questions and visit them - often. Does it feel right to you? Can you see yourself and your student in that school environment?
All of us at The Buckley School look forward to the opportunity to learn what you are looking for in your new school home.
Regards,
